Facebook TwitterA few years ago I moved to a small slice of paradise on the Olympic Peninsula with my husband Henry. I'm a stepmom to boy-girl twins, Joe and Sarah, who have begun their adventures in adulthood. When I'm not writing or traveling, I'm busy digging in the dirt, growing organic vegetables and fruits. I didn't start gardening until after age 50, at which time I fell in love with growing food and tending the soil. I'm also doing genealogical research on my family -- a new and grand passion that should bring a lot of new and exciting story ideas. Oh, yes, I also write books. I wrote and published When a Grandchild Dies: What to Do, What to Say, How to Cope, after having a miscarriage and stillbirth in a nine-month period. It was an intense, difficult time, but it got me writing. It changed my life in extraordinary ways...so don't weep for me. Sometimes we don't really come to life until our hearts are cracked open. My debut novel, The Foreign Language of Friends, reflects the loneliness I felt while living in Houston. FLOF was a finalist in the 2012 Next Generation Indie Book awards and a gold medal winner in the 2011 eLit Book Awards. I also edited Patchwork & Ornament: A Woman's Journey of Life, Love, and Art by Jeanette Feldman (yes, that's my name, too...she was my husband's mother). Patchwork was a labor of love for me, and it's darn pretty to look at, too. Patchwork was named Best Memoir in the 2010 Indie Excellence Book Awards. I hope to release my second novel, What She Knew, later in 2015. I'm also working on a nonfiction book, The Stairstep Garden: Confessions of a Late Bloomer, and am doing research for novel number three, tentatively Finding Jane.
