Born in Shreveport Louisiana, P. Manning grew up with six siblings. It is in this context of always having so many play-mates handy, and a childhood of constant adventure, that the magic of the Culpepper clan came to be. In earlier years, P. Manning wrote and recorded songs. She soon realized that writing songs were simply telling a story; a story set to music.
