TwitterI earned a B. A. Degree from the University of Texas in Austin, majoring in political science and minoring in history. Afterwards I passed my stock broker's exam and worked for a time at a brokerage house before returning to school. Upon getting my legal assistant certification from UCLA, I worked at a law firm in Los Angeles. Successful stock market investments allowed me, thankfully, to retire early and to pursue two dreams, writing and foreign travel, and I have since traveled extensively and frequently to Europe. I enjoy the cosmopolitan bustle, sidewalk cafes, the museums of Berlin, Rome, Vienna, London, Budapest, and Paris. Many of these capitals find their way into my stories of intrigue..."Murder Without Pity" (Paris), "The Killing Ploy" (London, Berlin, Paris, and Lugano) and the soon-to-be-released "Darkness and Blood" (London and Paris) and "Winston Churchill's Renegade Spy" (London and Zurich). I'm also researching for a fifth novel, this one to be set in 1946 Berlin.

Murder Without Pity
by Steve Haberman
Paris, France: dark with fog, riots over police killings, and Far Right demagogues. Such is the milieu surrounding dogged state criminal investigator Stanislas Cassel. However, this grandson of a French propagandist for Nazis during their WWII Occupation, ashamed of his family's history, avoids anything political. Instead he buries himself solving small crimes, which he calls his Little Miseries. One current dossier involves a pensioner's bizarre murder. During his pursuit for the killer/s, Cassel meets a beautiful Jewish woman, whose family the Germans killed. Haunted by this, she tries to warn him about the Far Right's reemergence, but to no avail. Only when tragedy strikes does he awake to his blindness and understand a painful truth: a larger evil beyond his Little Miseries, as the Occupation portened, lurks. Murder Without Pity, a provocative mystery about the past, the present, betrayal, murder, and redemption. A story for today's turbulent times.

The Killing Ploy
by Steve Haberman
Pablo de Silva was once a tracker and shooter in the CIA's elite Eyes and Ears Unit, whose work in Europe includes surveillance and if necessary, killing. But that was before Berlin. On a Berlin mission, he lost his nerve and failed to save the life of a fellow agent and lover. Tormented by this, sick of violence, held now in low regard by colleagues, he's transferred to a cushy job in Guatemala City to recuperate. One day, his former mention/head of the Unit calls him home with a new assignment. Liaise with an FBI counterterrorism expert in San Diego and see if the murders of two top Defense Department military contractors, headquartered in that city, have any European terrorist connection. If so, his mentor's Unit will take over. The task seems simple to de Silva. Off to San Diego and beyond he goes, not realizing he's slipped into a dangerous world. Does he have more enemies than he thinks? Should he watch his back as well as his front? Not until the conclusion of his mission does he find out. And not until that end do his allies discover Pablo de Silva is much more than he seems.
